Thank you very much! I was looking for something exactly like this.

Just one thing under FF 3 beta 3, when i click 'hide all tabs', instead of the homepage being displayed i get this:

Don't know if this also happens on FF2

Thanks again, although this alpha version does the job really well I'm also looking forward to the improvements!

Thanks pkay. Thats a very weird bug because that string is nowhere in my code. In FF2 works perfect. I'll have in mind that bug.

Thanks anonimous but that is the expected behavior. When you close all a new one opens with the homepage. When you close the only unhidden tab a hidden one raises because they're hidden not closed.
---------

Thank you! Thank you!! Thank you!!! I have been wanting this exact extension for as long as I have been using tabbed browsing in Firefox, yours is the first and only one that specifically hides single tabs. I use it to save space AND to stay logged into my different accounts like gmail and yahoo email-without this those tabs are just sitting there taking up space on the tab bar and generally bugging the living daylights out of me! I've been extensively using your extension for a good solid day and a half with FF 2.0.0.14 and have not experienced any problems. I think you are being too modest calling this 0.1 alpha because it works flawlessly! Thanks again! (Sorry if this is a duplicated post)

This addon works fine, the only big problem for me is that I use CTRL+PGUP and CTRL+PGDOWN combinations to go to next and previous tabs.
Here is the problem :
I have multiple tabs opened and one tab hidden with HideTab, I focus the tab that was at the left of the tab before it was hidden. When I enter CTRL+PGDOWN, it makes the hidden tab reappear ;-(
Very annoying.
Regards

Excellent little add-on!! It should be first on the Google search results page for the 'hide tabs in Firefox' ;). Great work!

This seems to be the one and only extension available to do this job. I went on a search for something to hide the meebo.com tab when I'm connected to its IM Web client. And hidetab 0.1 does the job quite well, even in FF 3.0.1. I did find the User Manual is at odds with hidetab's actual operation, but I think that's because it was written for FF 2.x. If you stay strictly with the status bar tool and hide your intended tab while focused on another tab, hidetabs does what it's supposed to do while under FF 3.0.1. I sure hope it still runs under FF 3.1, and 3.x and 4.0 and... Diego! Where are you??

Works OK in FF 3.0.3 with the caveats I mentioned on Sep.22.08 above.

Diego Ruiz i think Carlos Moreno have a point. Can you try to make it so it have key combination.

There several bugs:
Try open 2 tabs then: 2nd tab hidden, then close the first tab and 2nd will appear.

When hide the tab either from the bottom or right-click tab then "Hide Tab" it will still be there. Try to make jump to another tab when click "Hide Tab" So it doesn't show what the hidden tab was about.

When all the tabs are close the hidden tabs will appear one by one.

i've been waiting for an extension like this -- now if you can somehow integrate a keyboard shortcut to hide a current tab (or even be able to select which one to hide)

Excelente add-on.

Probe "hide tab bar" pero no parece ser del todo funcional en firefox 3, y no se ajusta a lo que deseo.

En cambio esta extension es muy util.

Gracias por crearla, y te animo a que sigas mejorandola.

Great tool; thanks!

When I hide a tab in FF 3.0.8, the tab is hidden, but I'm still viewing the page. I would like to see it automatically the change focus to a visible tab.

Diego Ruiz!!
You really did something great. I've been looking for this thing for a long time! Believe me,there's nothing like this out there. Please upload it to the Mozilla addons page ASAP. Tab hide related addons are all trash out there. Those addons just hide your all tabs or unhide all.. who wants those garbage??!! If anybody wishes,, why the heck they don't use IE6??!
Again, GREAT WORK... & I haven't found any bug so far. Highly Recommend if someone's still confused.
Last thing, I post such kind of useful & intersesting on my personal blog (http://hdzsroi.wordpress.com/) & definately I'm gonna recommend your addons there too. I hope its ok!
